those who bring Judaism into our hearts, homes and lives

Judaism Without Walls is a new initiative by the Milwaukee Kollel that will help deepen the connection of the Milwaukee Jewish community to its Judaism.  All of our children ask us questions we struggle with. But where do we turn for the answers?  For the proper perspective?

Each one of us has a responsibility to ensure out own long-term Jewish continuity by making Judaism integral to our beings and our identity.  Rabbis, synagogues and other Jewish institutions alone cannot ensure our future.  However, each of us in our own way can make the difference by growing to the best of our own ability - beginning today.  Bringing Judaism into each other's hearts, homes and lives requires an effort to connect with and reach out to one another.

Rabbi Michael Stern, Director of Judaism Without Walls, has over 15 years of experience in Jewish education.  He was the founder of Aish HaTorah - Philadelphia, one of the most successful Jewish educational organizations in Philadelphia.  Rabbi Stern's personal journey mirrors that of many Jews who grew up in a non-observant environment, fostering a warmth and understanding many find inviting.

Rabbi Yosef Schlussel, Director of Programming, adds years of experience to our team in the areas of community programming, teaching, and scholarship.  After several years teaching Jewish studies in Hamilton, Ontario, he joined the Milwaukee Kollel in 2001.  Rabbi Schlussel, his wife Yonina, and their three children are an asset to the greater Milwaukee Jewish community.

As an integral member of the team at Aish HaTorah - Philadelphia, Denise Stern and her family hosted thousands of guests and helped Judaism come alive for so many.  While she is best known for her hand-on Challah baking workshop, Denise's expertise is in logistics, where she is experienced in everything from co-directing "Speed-Dating" to serving as a wedding planner for the many couples her husband married.

Yoni is a great asset to Judaism Without Walls, working on the Women's Division with Ali Begoun and Denise Stern.  She spearheads the Milwaukee Conference for Jewish Women every year bringing women across Jewish Milwaukee together to discuss a variety of topics that are important and relevant to all Jewish women.
