About B’nai Jacob

Congregation B'nai Jacob is a contemporary egalitarian congregation in the Conservative tradition dedicated to developing, supporting, and sustaining contemporary Judaism, Jewish living, and our diverse Jewish community for 50 years.

We seek to encourage and stimulate higher levels of Jewish knowledge, ethical living, and observance among our members, and to transmit these traditions to the next generations.

Although B’nai Jacob is affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, we also recognize the wide divergence of knowledge and practice among Jews in Jewish life today. For this reason we have designed and enhanced our services to provide a fulfilling Jewish experience to all.

Within our warm, supportive community, we strive to foster meaningful spiritual experiences and a sense of Jewish connection and continuity. We provide a welcoming environment which values feelings of kinship, a sense of belonging, and spiritual enrichment in daily living and life cycle events.

Members are committed to Jewish philosophy and practice; support for the local and global Jewish community, outreach to unaffiliated Jews who are seeking a meaningful Jewish experience, and “Tikkun Olam”: healing the world.

Under the spiritual leadership of Cantor Marsha Dubrow, our inclusive, egalitarian religious services include a high level of congregational participation, such as reading the weekly Torah portion and Haftarah, leading responsive readings, and conducting services on alternate Shabbats. Members enjoy Shabbat and festival dinners many times during the year and a new program of Jewish cultural activities. Come visit us. You will receive a warm welcome at B'nai Jacob.

To the left and right of the Bimah photograph above are the words which are an inseparable part of our ark doors and before the congregation at all times. These words are, transliterated, “Hesed” and “Emet”: “Righteousness” and “Truth.” They are the fundamental ideas that inform the Jewish faith and our practice of it.
